Vital Shade: the architecture of forest bathing. A rhythmic interplay of raw materials and shifting light — a space meticulously designed for you to "pause" and "restore" within the embrace of nature.
The brief
A concept for a wellness-focused residence: over 1,000 sq.m. of landscape to support daily practices of rest, bathing, and slow walking.
Design approach
Lush retreat, wellness living, organic modernism. The garden is planted densely enough to feel like a forest, with a looping raw-timber walk that passes through light and shade in turn.
Along the route, an outdoor bathing court with a round timber tub and a rest pavilion give places to stop. Materials are left raw so they weather and change along with the planting.
The result
A forest-bathing sanctuary at home — where the rhythm of the walk, the light, and the materials encourage the body to slow down.
Project highlights
- A walk-through forest designed for "shinrin-yoku" forest bathing
- Raw timber, stone, and water set in rhythm with changing light
- Round soaking tub set inside the planting
