Designing for Thailand's Climate: Why Easy Maintenance Starts at the Design Stage
Bangkok's heat, humidity, and seasonal downpours are hard on landscapes that weren't designed with them in mind. A lot of maintenance headaches — plants that struggle, hardscape that stains or cracks, drainage that can't keep up — trace back to decisions made long before anyone picked up a trowel.
Plant selection is a long-term decision
We choose species based on how they'll perform here over years, not just how they look in a render. That means favoring plants that are genuinely suited to local conditions over ones that need constant intervention to survive.
Materials matter as much as planting
Durable, climate-appropriate materials — the kind we specify in every construction documentation package — hold up to Thailand's sun and rain with far less upkeep than materials chosen purely for appearance.
Sustainable is the goal, not an add-on
This is why "sustainable landscape" is one of our core design principles, not a separate service. A garden designed with long-term ease of maintenance in mind from day one stays beautiful with far less effort than one where maintenance is an afterthought.
